It: Chapter 2 had no trouble taking the top spot in its opening weekend, however its $91M take was way down from the $123M premiere of the 2017 chapter. What caused the dramatic downturn in interest is up for debate, but what isn’t is that Chapter 2 won’t get anywhere near the $327M total of its predecessor. In the positive column, however, the $91M weekend is not only the second-biggest "It" opening, but stands as the second-biggest September opening of all time.
Second place went to Angel Has Fallen, which picked up $6M in its third weekend for a 17-day total to $53.5M.
In third place, Good Boys grabbed $5.4M in weekend No. 4 for a new total of $66.8M.
The Lion King added $4.2M in fourth place, pushing its season total to $177.2M
Rounding out the Top Five was Overcomer with $3.8M.
