Welcome to Box Office Champs! We’re a fantasy game for movie fans. Think you can spot a blockbuster, bomb, or sleeper hit before they hit the big screen? This is the game for you.
It’s simple. Just create a team (which we call a studio) of 15 movies, sit back, and watch your team/studio score rise as they make money at the box office.
The studio with the most money at the end of the season is the winner!
This part couldn’t be easier. Once you’ve signed up, just choose a name for you studio and get started picking movies.
Have a favorite movie or actor/actress? Name your studio after that. Big fan of Jaws? How about “Bigger Boat Productions”? Does Zoolander split your side? Maybe something like "Blue Steel Studios" is for you. But any old name will do. It’s your call!
The goal of the game is to pick the 15 movies that you think will make the most money, so you’ll want to target the potential hits, avoid the bombs, and hope to get lucky with a sleeper or two.
Beware movies that open towards the end of the season. Money they make after the end of the season won’t do your studio any good. Learn more about this in Seasons below.
Once the season begins you can still make a some changes to your studio roster, but there are a couple of ground rules to ensure competitive fairness:
Why would you even want to drop a movie? A couple of reasons:
Box Office Champs pits every studio against each other every season, but if you are looking for a more personal experience amongst your friends, family, or coworkers no problem. You can create groups to compete and compare against only the individuals you want. Just give the group a name and invite them to join!
To invite more members into an existing group, click the "Send Invite" link located at the bottom of the Groups section on your studio page. You can either send email invites to multiple people from the invite page, or copy the invite link and email it manually to your friends.
To join a group you must receive an invite from a current member of that group.
We split the year into three seasons as follows:
We’ll let you know in advance when new seasons are getting ready to start so you can assemble your studios in time.
We tally your score based on these exact dates. Movies that span multiple seasons only count for the dates that fall within the current season.
Example: The movie Passengers opens on December 21, 2016.
We have more exciting games and content in the works, including custom seasons (so you can choose when you want your seasons to start and end), weekly box office games, and more great movie content so you can see, learn, and share info about your favorite movies—current, upcoming, and past.
