It Holds Off Hustlers for No. 1 Repeat

It: Chapter 2 had little trouble hanging on to the top spot at the box office in its second weekend, but it continues to pale in comparison to its predecessor. With $40.7M in weekend number two, the horror sequel was down 55.3%—compared to $60.1 and 51.3% drop the first chapter managed in 2017. Through 10 days, Chapter 2 has earned $153.8M and looks on its way to a total take in the low $200M.

While It was No. 1, the real news of the weekend was the $33.2M haul from Hustlers. Not only did it far surpass expectations, it also represents the best opening ever for Jennifer Lopez. With positive reviews and audience responseHustlerscould emerge as a Top 10 contender for the season.

In third place, Angel Has Fallen added $4.4M for a new total of $60.4M. Fourth place went to Good Boys, which added $4.3M to its $73.3M total. Still hanging out in the Top Five, The Lion King collected another $3.5M.
