As August begins winding to a close, the Gerard Butler action sequel Angel Has Fallen got off to a solid start with a $21.3M first-place premiere. That's nearly identical to the $21.6M opening of 2016's London Has Fallen. While that likely won't be enough to earn it a Top 10 spot for the BOC Season, it's a solid showing for the action franchise.

Dipping to second place, Good Boys had a great hold in its second weekend (down 45.1%) with an $11.8M take to give it a new 10-day total of $42.1M.

Opening in third place, Overcomer collected $8.2M to narrowly edge out The Lion King, which clawed out another $8.15M—even more narrowly edging out Hobbs & Shaw's fifth place $8.14M take. Both holdovers had minimal declines, dropping 33.9% and 42.6%, respectively.
